Healthy Eating

We understand the importance of healthy eating and a balanced diet in making sure our pupils are ready to learn, and children have the option of dinners at the academy or bringing a packed lunch. Our highly-acclaimed lunches are provided by The Maltings, and cost £2.30 per day. Options include sandwiches, a choice of hot meals and desserts, including fruit. Menus work on a three week rolling programme. Special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request. Please note that parents and children make their choices a term in advance from the online menu. A link is sent out to parents each term. Payment for school meals is made weekly in advance using MyChildAtSchool. Lunch is eaten in the hall. Reception and KS1 eat first, and then the four KS2 classes rotating. Children who bring in a packed lunch also eat in the hall. Parents are asked to support our approach to healthy eating if their child brings a packed lunch, and to help us meet health and safety requirements by ensuring that children do not bring hot food or drink in glass flasks and that drinks are sent in unbreakable containers.

Breakfast Club & After School Club

Breakfast Club runs every morning from 7.45am until the start of school at a cost of £3.50 per day. After School Club runs each evening from the end of school to 5.15pm at a cost of £5.50 per day. Bookings and payments must be made on the MyChildAtSchool system.

Milk and snacks

Children in Reception receive free milk until their 5th birthday and, along with Key Stage 1, receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day. Please note that children in Year 1 to Year 6 are invited to bring a ‘healthy’ snack to eat at breaktime.

Active Calderdale

Alongside healthy eating, staying active and completing regular exercise is also important. Active Calderdale provides information about how to be more active in Calderdale.
